HAIR COLORS YOU SHOULD ASK FOR IN 2020

It’s hard to believe it, but it’s a new decade. With all the talk on Instagram and social media about fresh starts and new beginnings, why not start with your hair? We talked to celebrity hairstylist Rene Fris on what he thinks will be the biggest color requests this year. Here is his advice on how to take on the Roaring Twenties with a new hue.

Caramel Highlights

Brown hair is a trend that is never going to go away but spice it up with a little extra color. Rene suggests that you ask your stylist to add caramel highlights to a chocolate brown base. It helps to create a relatively low-key look that is still stylish and on-trend.

Silver Blonde Hair

While you don’t have to go completely silver, this silver blonde look is the perfect in between look. If you want to channel your inner Ice Queen, then this can be a great way to dip your toe into the silver realm. Fris recommends that you use purple shampoo whenever you wash your hair to ensure that you keep the color as bright as possible for as long as possible.

Lilac Hair

We saw this trend first make an appearance in 2019, but Rene Fris is convinced that people are still going to be asking for it in the new year. If you haven’t taken advantage of this trend yet, perhaps now is the time to do it. After dying your hair, Fris recommends that you wash your hair with a color-safe shampoo that reduces frizz, in case your hair is feeling the dry effects of winter. A good option is this cleanser and conditioner from Rene Fris’ line. It even has scents of Lilac and Jasmine, so your hair will smell as good as it looks.

Dip Dye Hair

If you are too nervous to dye your hair a fun or exotic color, but still want a pop of color, consider dip dying the ends of your hair. Fris says it’s a great way for people to experiment without their hair, without experiencing tons of damage.

Red Hair

We are starting to see a huge resurgence of red hair. This amazing rich color helps to warm your skin without making your features look washed out. Fris recommends that you wash your hair with a sulfate-free shampoo like this onefrom Rene Fris’ line. It helps to keep your color vibrant and your hair healthy because it won’t strip away your natural oils.

If going this bright red doesn’t work for your skin tone, you might want to consider a darker red, like burgundy or wine-colored highlights. While these are normally more fall colors, these dark shades will work just as well in the winter. Fris says that a beautiful burgundy will go with many skin tones. Even if your skin is pale, it will help you to look more porcelain, with a striking hair color. If you have a darker skin tone, the color will become more subtle.
